This policy is in place to protect the homeowner’s possessions and prevent unnecessary damages that might happen due to the items being frozen.
The summer season is behind us and we would like to thank everyone for a wonderful summer. We are now entering into the colder weather and need to put our winter policy into effect as of November 1.
The winter policy is that services are going to be scheduled for the day after delivery in the cold climate areas. This is to allow the household goods time to acclimate to room temperature. The items that are really affected by the cold are the reason for the policy, these items are:
1) Appliances that operate off of a domestic water source:
Washing Machines - even though the unit is drained at origin, the machine will always maintain some water in the unit. The unit needs to acclimate to room temperature to allow what water is in the unit to thaw. It is also recommended not to put water into the unit until it has thawed.
Icemakers - even though the system has been serviced at origin, the unit will still have residual moisture in it. The unit needs to acclimate to room temperature to allow what water is in the unit to thaw. It is also recommended not to put water into the unit until it has thawed.
2) Waterbed mattresses - attempting to unfold a mattress before it reaches room temperature will cause the mattress to crack. The unit needs to acclimate to room temperature before the mattress is handled.
3) Grandfather Clocks - cold temperatures cause the oil in pivot points to gum up. The clock needs to acclimate to room temperature to allow the proper setup of the clock.
4) Electronic Equipment - it is always recommended not to hookup electronic equipment before it has reached room temperature.
